F A Q
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHY DO YOU SHOOT WEDDINGS?
I am a true sentimentalist and can’t help but tear up when I get to be part of someone’s big day and see true love commit to one another in front of everyone they hold dear.
I’m sure I’m not alone in saying that weddings are often the most fun, emotional, beautiful, and memorable events of people’s lives - who wouldn’t want to be a part of that!
WHAT’S YOUR APPROACH TO SHOOTING ON THE DAY?
I love to capture couples who aren’t afraid of embracing their love and affection for one another. That being said, it isn’t every day you have a camera trailing your every move so fear not, I am more often than not shooting in a candid style - focusing on guests around the wedding, capturing subtle unforgettable moments and also shooting your carefully chosen details of the wedding day.
I will do everything I can to ensure I capture what you consider to be the most important moments of the day, however I do work best when I am trusted to really embrace the day and photograph it as I see it unfold naturally.
WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO TAKE BRIDAL PARTY + COUPLE SHOTS?
I would say the “Golden Hour” which is an hour before sunset.
YOU WILL NEVER SEE ME ON THE DAY …
Taking photos of bridal party all turned inwards like school photos. Directing you to do something cheesy + overly posed eg. making heart shapes with your hands with sun setting in the background.
YOU WILL OFTEN SEE ME ON THE DAY …
Laughing, helping the bride with her outfit or the groom with his bow tie, coordinating family members for photos, bringing out the best of you both in photos (making you laugh)
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO TRAVEL?
I charge $75 per hour outside of the Sydney region, and an accomodation fee of $300 for anywhere over 2.5 hours.
HOW MUCH IS THE DEPOSIT?
20% of the chosen package, which is due at the time of the booking to secure the date.
WHEN IS THE TOTAL INVOICE DUE?
2 weeks prior to the wedding date, paid in full. Any additional hours shot on the day will be invoiced accordingly and sent after the wedding with payment due before final hand over of images.
DO YOU MEET US BEFORE THE BIG DAY?
Absolutely (where possible). I personally like to meet closer to the wedding date so both parties have a better understanding of what’s planned and expected to unfold on the day. Usually the best time and place for this is a local coffee shop or pub close to Sydney’s CBD and convenient for both parties.
HOW MANY IMAGES WILL WE RECEIVE?
Approx. 600 depending on what sort of photo coverage you have chosen
DO YOU EDIT YOUR OWN PHOTOS?
Yes. I personally edit every single photo I have taken and selected for the final collection. There seems to be a growing trend amongst photographers working at a high volume who outsource their editing. For me, taking the time to spend a little more on key shots where unnecessary detail is edited out is what makes the difference between a nice photo and a GREAT photo. That being said, I don’t photoshop people - so please don’t anticipate a highly edited version of yourselves hehe.
I will edit in colour, with 20-30% of the images being in black and white. I do not offer RAW files, I do however offer high RES jpeg suitable for printing.
WHEN WILL WE RECEIVE OUR WEDDING PHOTOS?
You'll receive your photographs in 4-6 weeks
DO YOU DO PRINTS?
Yes, I work with a great imaging lab local to the northern beaches who produces prints to a fine art quality.
WHERE ARE YOU BASED?
Currently, the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney but I call my home town - Berry, NSW
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN SHOOTING FOR?
I have been shooting since I was a wee 15 year old, running in the back paddocks of my parents property with my first SLR camera (in which they had purchased for themselves but soon realised they weren’t getting it back). I then completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts majoring in Photography when I was 21 (many moons ago) and have since been running my own business as a Wedding and Lifestyle Photographer.
